Department of Pharmaceutical Technology & Raw Materials Development (PT&RMD)
The Department is currently headed by Dr. Olubunmi Olayemi.

The Department has a staff strength of 16 personnel; 8 Research Fellows, 6 Technologists and 2 Secretarial staff. We have expertise in pharmaceutical material sciences including the development of excipients (micro & nanocrystalline cellulose and chitosan) from different local sources (coconut husk and snail shell respectively), extraction and modification of starches from local sources, and the development of various oral and topical formulations from herbal extracts and conventional excipients. We are also involved in carrying out quality assessment of various pharmaceutical dosage forms as part of the services rendered to customers through the Consult Unit. The Department recently obtained some new equipment including a High-Performance Nanoparticle Size Analyzer, Functional Particle & Powder Characterization Analyzer, High Shear Mixer/Homogenizer and 8-Station Dissolution tester.
