Dr. Mustapha Bolanle Kudirat is a distinguished Pharmaceutical Chemist and Research leader currently serving as Director (Research) and Head of the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Quality Control at the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), Abuja. She was promoted from Associate Research Professor to Director (Research) in recognition of her outstanding scholarship, leadership, and contributions to pharmaceutical research and innovation.
She also heads the NIPRD Central Laboratory Facilities, through which the Institute achieved ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation, a milestone that strengthened NIPRD’s Quality Management Systems and analytical service capacity. In addition, she serves as the Deputy Institute Consultancy Unit Coordinator, supporting institutional collaborations and consultancy services that enhance NIPRD’s impact in the pharmaceutical and public health sectors.
Dr. Mustapha holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, since 2005 and has published over forty (40) peer-reviewed papers in reputable national and international journals. Her research interests span pharmaceutical analysis, biopharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, and drug–herbal interactions, with a focus on analytical method development and quality control.
During her sabbatical appointment at the University of Ilorin, she contributed to academic development through the publication of laboratory manuals for 100-, 200-, and 300-level students, enhancing teaching resources and practical training. A mentor to many, she has supervised over fifty (50) industrial trainees, undergraduate students, intern pharmacists and mentored NYSC Corps members.
She is a member of the Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria (IPAN), the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), and the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON). Through her leadership and scholarship, Dr. Mustapha continues to strengthen Nigeria’s pharmaceutical research landscape and promote global standards in drug development and quality assurance.
